Hello everyone. Glad I found this board. I'm 41 and live on Long Island. I'm an arborist and for the past 20 years I have worked for a man who was a tug captain. He is 70 now and I have enjoyed 20 years of the most interesting tug stories. He worked NY Harbor during a career that began in the 60's. He's a third generation tug person, growing up around boats. His grandfather took part in preparations for D-Day, creating breakwaters for our forces and his father worked as a cook aboard tugs. He grew up on and around boats and would eventually become a captain and a negotiator for the Longshoremen Union. He was fortunate to have worked on tugs during a golden age when the NY Harbor was busy, the life was fun, and the food was great. I have been the beneficiary of countless tales and good recipes and so we have decided to write a book. I will be so happy to learn and share here and hope this board is active!
