I'm hearing how succesfull the tug boat indusrty is right now but I'm not seeing many employment opportunities for an OS/deckhand.
I have no expierience on a boat however my I'm not affraid to mix it up with the best and worst of them. The problem is getting my foot in the door. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to land an entry level position on a Tug.
SHould I go to the Docks, write an email, call them direct or fax the resume. Or should I do all four but think I think I run the risk of over exposing myself.
Oh and I do have my Z-Card.
Thx
Corporate Deckhand

I just got a buddy here on the track to a job. He's working for peanuts but earning his time fora AB ticket. Finding a company that would hire OS's is the trick. Reinauer was doing try-out cruises for a while. I don't know if they still are.
You can never over expose yourself doing this kind of job hunting. Sometimes the last guy they saw will be the guy that gets them underway and out of a pinch.
If all else fails, their are headhunters that will place you in a job but it could be far away and you'll have to pay them a fee. But, you'll be getting your AB time and once you have that ticket, you're always home free.
