Any thoughts or issues on the new inspection criteria? Apparently tugs have always been classified as "Uninspected Towing Vessels" Now the USCG wants to bring us into the fold. My company operates thirty+ year old boats, and the inspections were a bit of an issue. I busted my A## helping them get through! The initial inspections were sort of quick and dirty, next year and in the future it will only get tougher. I came from the Dinner/Cruise boat industry, so I kind of knew the drill, but as far as tugs go, it was a baptism by fire. The upside is, I learned a great deal!

The inspection process has been slow. So far it has only affected some crewing issues and the requirement for more medical screening.
